I recently watched (again!) the Philippine All Stars in the Hip-Hop International 2008 competition in YouTube...and boy oh boy! they're so good that watching it for the -nth time is not enough, I'm still swooning over their moves and I really have to say this in Filipino: "P***I***, ang galing nyo!" and its coming from my heart with all my love and support. *wink*wink*
As not to be biased though, I've watched the other competitors and they are pretty good too! I must say that winning a competition like that having to compete with the world's best isn't easy BUT I sure know what made the P'All Stars a winner...they've got class... they were sleek, they were edgy, they were...well, all that sort!!!
And perhaps to compare amongst the others, I've seen the Americans work their way to get even with the Filipinoes, but just couldn't. I think it was their choice of music that it was becoming boring and boring as their routine continues, and 'twas also their outfits that were like... hmmnn... I'm not sure but they looked like ... I don't know, Hotdogs? alright! wrinkly hotdogs! I mean, all those snappy moves got lost inside those super baggy clothes, it was just too heavy to look at...plus the hair of the girls...P'All Stars did that before, it worked for them but... I don't think the Americans did as well with the BIG hair!!! Anyway, I should continue on and discuss the guys from New Zealand, The Prestige... well, snappy? check. edgy?check. oiginal?... NO!!! Definitely NOT. I've seen them compete before and anyone can see that they've immediately evolved into becoming more and more like caucasian P'All Star members! They are good too but I don't know somehow all the competitors seem to have "recycled" what P'All Stars did from the past...the "motorcycle" thing? hey... everyone knows where it was seen first! It was just too painful to watch that I did not continue watching them.
...and so, my world could've been a better place IF all the competitors did their homework and "formulated" some new moves, and came out in their own image and not like P' All Star wannabes! They all got talent, they all got the skill... just have some originality, it will be more entertaining for those who watch...and it'll make your own countries proud!
